Analysis
Grayson McCall is a lot better than some people give him credit for. While not a perfect product, he has traits that fit well with the current direction of the league. He’s mobile, and does well moving the ball while on the run and through the use of various option plays. McCall does well on his reads and has a natural ability to keep plays alive, using his feet as a last resort. McCall excels on quick slants, flats, and out routes thanks to prolific short and medium accuracy. He shows great patience while waiting for receivers to get open. As far as negatives go: he’s not asked to go through more than one to two reads per play. He also tends to stare at some of his receivers. While he can do well on the run, there are moments where his mechanics can get sloppy. While has a slightly above average deep ball, his accuracy can be hit or miss. Ball security has to be worked on for him. He has had 14 fumbles over two seasons as a starter. This simply will not fly in the NFL and needs to be worked on. While he is far from a perfect prospect he is a draftable talent who should find a role as a backup for an NFL team.
