Analysis
Kayshon Boutte has every chance to be the top wide receiver in this draft class if he stays healthy. In 2020, he had a great year as a freshman and was off to even a greater start in 2021 before being sidelined by an injury that ended his season. His route running is great, he has reliable hands, and can he can do so much damage after the catch. Boutte greatly excels at short to medium routes, where he is lethal with creating separation. Boutte has put together great numbers for having a less than stellar quarterback and I can only imagine what he can do with someone more competent throwing the ball his way. When it comes to flaws, he struggles with over the top separation on his deeper routes and contested catches. In 2021, he only brought in about 37% of his attempted contested catches. Lastly, there are some moments where he lacks physicality and struggles to shake free of press defenders. Overall, Boutte is a smooth and reliable receiver who can cause big problems for defenses with the ball in his hands. He uses a solid mixture of route running skill and quickness to get open and cause headaches for opposing defenses. If you give him an inch of daylight he can take it to the house. Boutte should go early on day one.
