Analysis
Roderick isn’t going to be considered as a true center fielder nor a consistent big hitter. However, he is a steady presence on the back end. While he doesn’t get a ton of targets as a pure coverage man, he does well enough and knows how to handle areas he is responsible for. In South Carolina’s defense, he plays as more of a strong safety role. He consistently is in the box and is the one covering either the QB or the RB. Roderick sets the edge and hangs on the outside on run plays in case the ball carrier bounces to the outside or slips through the main attack. He shows tremendous hustle and never really takes himself out of a play. However, there are moments where he can really struggle to change direction. He also can miss easy tackles and struggles to shed blocks. When he goes up against lead blockers he can really struggle to get away. Overall, Roderick is a really solid player who I can see finding himself a spot on an NFL roster. Right now I give him a third round grade and I think there is the potential for him to potentially earn a second round grade by the end of 2022.
