Analysis

A former 5 star recruit and protagonist of Netlfix’s QB1 docuseries, Rattler has had an up and down collegiate career. Rattler was originally dubbed the next great quarterback for Oklahoma under QB whisperer Lincoln Riley, but the former top recruit never quite lived up to the hype. After being benched for Caleb Williams in 2021, Rattler is taking his talents to South Carolina to play for the Gamecocks as he looks to re-establish himself as a top QB prospect. Rattler has some of the tools you want out of an elite prospect. He has a game changing arm that can hit anywhere on the field, he displays the ability to be a threat with his legs, and he has the mind of a gunslinger. There’s a few red flags though. One scout has called his character questionable at best, for example. Another is majorly inconsistent lower body mechanics that affect his ball placement. Time will tell if 2022 marks Rattler’s return to elite prospect status, but for now he seems to be a Day 2 option in the 2023 draft.

Tier: Day 2
