Analysis
DJ Dale has been a solid rotational piece for Nick Saban’s defense for years now. Dale isn’t as flashy or disruptive as Phidarian Mathis, but he is still a nice contributor in his own right. The Crimson Tide defense uses Dale as the NT in their defense with him usually lining up in the 1T or 0T spot. Dale is a smart defensive lineman who plays well in his role and understands the roles he’s asked to do. He plugged the holes and filled the gaps to help free Mathis and Will Anderson in 2021. As a prospect, it’ll be tough for Dale at the next level because even though he’s built like a barrel, he is light for a nose and he doesn’t have the athleticism to dominate without size. Dale should be a nice Day 3 add for teams looking to bolster their defensive line depth with a smart experienced SEC vet.
