Tyler was rarely used by the WMU offense in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, he finally started to come into his own with a 1,000 rushing yard season. The biggest issue surrounding Tyler is his size. He is underweight and small for his position. This could be concerning, considering there aren’t many successful NFL running backs his size. Due to his size he his limited as a blocker and as an escape artist from would-be tacklers. Tyler is very explosive and fast. He has quick steps out of his stance and can get upfield at a good speed. He shows decent vision and the ability to find running lanes. Tyler also shows quick and sharp cuts to make defenders miss. He is active in Western Michigan’s passing game and is used as a returner on special teams. He is absolutely lethal when he is allowed to get to the outside and get to the corner first. Overall, Tyler is a talented running back who will more than likely get drafted; especially if he has another good year at WMU. Due to his size and inability to get through the defenders if halfway decent contact is made, I am going to give him a 5th round grade. He will likely be a return guy for a team who can also be used for speed in the passing game.
